one of the worlds largest natural harbours, it is not
surprising that Mahon was chosen by Admiral Nelson as
the base for the British Mediterranean Fleet.
On the northern side is Cala Longa, overlooking the
harbour, whilst on the southern side stands Mahon, the
capital and Es Castel, Nelsons garrison town.
Both Mahon and Es Castel have many harbourside restaurants,
whilst Cala Fons in Es Castel is famous for its fish
restaurants. With over a dozen beaches and coves
within 20 minutes drive this is an ideal centre for
those who want to combine maximum flexibility with easy
accessibility to Mahon's attractions. |
