| Hong
Kong is famed for it’s spectacular skyline,
world class shopping and simply fabulous hotels
- all crammed into a vibrant city where East
meets West. This former British colony has plenty
to offer those who seek an unique experience.
Take
in the entire spectacle with a panoramic overview
from Victoria Peak. Enjoy lunch on one of the
cities floating restaurants. Explore the narrow
streets crammed with vendors and feel the rapid
pulse of this dynamic, cosmopolitan and commercial
city. Shops beckon from modern malls or visit
old world markets. Don’t miss a ride on
the famous Star Ferry. Indeed, Victoria harbour,
with busy junks and sampans plying its waters,
is ranked alongside Rio de Janeiro, Sydney and
San Francisco as one of the world’s most
beautiful.
2006
was discover Hong Kong year and this has heralded
the opening of many new attractions and tours.
These have all added to the diversity of the
city and its environments.
There
is much to attract with vast areas of countryside,
including the green dragon-crested hills of
Kowloon, idyllic beaches and tranquil fishing
villages to relax in.
Yes,
it is modern and hi-tech. But it is also a truly
Asian destination with exotic festivals all
year round, centuries old traditions and local
neighborhoods, such as Sheung Wan, that have
remained largely unchanged.
Of
the many diverse attractions available to you,
it is difficult to make a choice, as many are
free. It is possible to learn Tai Chi; watch
a Kung Fu demonstration; find out about Chinese
medicine; spot pink dolphins on an island cruise;
hike through miles of lush green countryside
or relax on a quiet beach.
Of
special note in the calendar are Chinese New
Year in February; Hong Kong Arts Festival in
February/March; the Hong Kong Rugby 7’s
in March; Cultural and Heritage Celebration
in April/May; Hong Kong shopping festival in
July/August; mid Autumn Festival in September;

Apart
from this, there is, of course, the Hong Kong
that everyone knows a little about with its
skyscrapers forming a glistening forest of steel
and glass – taking on a new persona by
night with bright lights and lasers lighting
up the city.
Even
though Hong Kong is now a semi autonomous region
of China, it has lost none of it’s excitement
and exoticism. With Hong Kong being the duty
free capital of the world, the endless array
of shops offer everything from hand-tailored
suits to Chinese porcelain and the latest electronics.
Hong
Kong has always been a destination for the connoisseur
that offers great value for money. Now, with
